This is the first of a new series of books that continues the adventures of the 1979 television series starring Gil Gerard (Buck Rogers) and Erin Gray (Wilma Deering). Highly recommended if you were a fan of that show.
This story takes place right after the events of the last episode of the first season, THE FLIGHT OF THE WAR WITCH. Buck is sent on an undercover mission to prevent an ecological disaster on Earth. Someone is preventing the transportation of microbes from one of Saturn's moons to replenish those that Earth is lacking ever since the Nuclear War 500 years ago. Buck ends up on one of the moons that's a prison-and encounters some characters he put away in the first season. There's also the return of Joella Cameron (from the episode THE PLOT TO KILL A CITY), whom Wilma is a bit jealous of. And there's also the return of Princess Ardala, who finally succeeds the throne from her dying father.
The author has a great ability of keeping all of the continuity straight-and also improves on a few things, such as explaining how Ardala's assistant in the tv series, Kane, is not the Kane seen in the first movie (portrayed by Henry SIlva)-and that this is Ansara Kane (named after actor Michael Ansara, who is Kane in the series). It also sets up why the Draconian's weren't a concern anymore in Season Two of the series. It also addresses Buck and Wilma's relationship...
I can't recommend this book enough and am eagerly awaiting the next novella.
