In the present-day Amazon forest, Sheena comes across construction workers destroying more of the jungle. While fighting them a rift in time opens up and she finds herself half a world away, in Africa, in 1936. It's here she comes across a tree house with a note to her-and befriends a chimp, "Cheetah". Also, a group of Leopard Men attack her and a group of white men she encounters. Meanwhile, Tarzan is in England looking for a kidnapped Jane. The kidnappers want her to sign over her Estate. Back in Africa, Sheena befriends an elephant being used in a circus. She takes a job there, mostly to protect the elephant, and eventually becomes friends with the owner, Tyler. Tarzan and Sheena finally meet in issue #3. She's anxious to meet him because she thinks he may be the key for her to return to her own time and place. They realize, though, that they have to work together to stop a bigger threat, a woman from the future who has been manipulating events. Her ultimate goal is to destroy the world.
Jane eventually escapes her captors and is reunited with her husband and meets Sheena. In issue #6 Tarzan and Sheena have to go through the time portal, this time to the future, where they find everything in ruins. Along with them is the leader of the Leopard Men, who realizes they have a lot in common-the protection of the jungle. Now, the three allies have to set things right...
I think this is clearly set apart from the "true" continuity (as continued in The Wild Adventures of Tarzan and the Tom Yeates comics) because in the end Sheena, back in her own time period, gets a letter from Tarzan and we see a photo of him and Jane in what looks like their sixties. Overall, an interesting tale and the artwork is great. Recommended.
