It's the late 1990's, twenty-years since we were first introduced to "Mark Harris", the Man from Atlantis. He's still working with Elizabeth Merrill and an organization she established and there's still a big emotional connection between the two of them. However, Mark doesn't know where he has come from and has adapted more to our civilization. But when two mysterious men, with webbed hands, try to kill him, he knows it's now time to find some answers. He does-and reunites with his ancient civilization. And it's a bit different than you would think it would be. The city, on the ocean floor, is able to be moved around-and the "dome" that protects it is actually a huge, living creature. It's inhabitants, Mark's people, don't age as long as they stay in the water, so when he returns he visibly older from living on the surface, though his mother-and girlfriend he left behind-look the same age from when he left. He learns that his father, the King, recently died, and that he's next in line for the throne. All seems good yet there is a group that doesn't want him in this position.
This new MAN FROM ATLANTIS novel, written by the actor who portrayed him on the series, succeeds in answering a lot of unanswered questions while also being faithful to that original show. In fact, it's much better than the majority of those episodes and I can definitely see a continuing series that takes place in our current (no pun intended) world. Highly recommended if you're a fan of the 1977-78 show.
