This graphic novel compiles all the events that preceeded MARVEL ZOMBIES (1), beginning with the heroes trying to stop the zombie infection that's spreading. Reed Richards becomes fascinated by all this and comes to the conclusion that becoming a zombie is simply the next step in human evolution-- and they should all just go with it. In fact, he infects the other members of his team.
Then, the rest of the stories primarily focus on The Ultimate Fantastic Four, who are a younger version of the group from an alternate Earth. They accidently bring the zombied FF to their world and are able to contain them while they try to find a cure. Then the younger version of Reed Richards goes through the gateway, to the Earth destroyed by the zombies, and discovers Magneto trying to gather up human survivors.
The last story continues MARVEL ZOMBIES, with the space traveling former heroes, now with the power of Galactus, attacking the Skrull home world.
What I found most interesting about this the whole alternate worlds scenario--and that younger version of the FF, who are more like the theatrical versions than the original Marvel versions.
