While this newest "Stardoc" book is not as good as the first five books in the series, which I think is a "must read" for sci-fi fans, OMEGA GAMES is a vast improvement over the previous two, REBEL ICE and PLAGUE OF MEMORY. The premise of those two books is that the main character, the immortal Cherijo Torin, has suffered a terrible head injury and lost all of her memories. In fact, she has a different personality altogether. One that isn't so likable, which is the crux of the problem.
However, here she seems to be acting like her old self, primarily because of her husband, Duncan Reever--and it's not just mimicking how people want her to behave. She's starting to regain some of those memories from her "other life".
The two end up becoming marooned on an inhospitable planet called Trellus when they are investigating someting called "The black crystal", and must unravel a mystery as to what's going on there, as people are being killed off. there's an entire community on this mining world, all of whom live in different protective domes. And two of those domes want Cherijo, for different reasons.
OMEGA GAMES is a good read and comes along just when I was about to give up on this series.
