Written by Dave Wolverton. This is the sequel to SERPENT'S CATCH. Here, the last free areas of Anee are taken over by the dreaded Slave Lords and Tull and his companions are captured and taken back to Craal, the dark city. Phylomen, the thousand-year old starfarer (original human) goes on a quest to find the Creators, who are intent upon destroying all people from Anee because their overpopulation and destruction of the environment threatens many of the other species. And it's the Creator's job to balance everything out. In order to do this they've created eel-like parasites which have been killing both the dragons and the serpents (which have been protecting humans from the dinosaurs) and also a human-like creature that is basically a vampire. The hero Tull, who is far developing his psychic abilities (which all Neanderthals have) may be the planet's savior. Yet this is in a most unexpected way. This sequel is as good, if not better than the first book, building upon the characters and situations presented in the first novel. And it wraps up everything in a very satisfying way.
