This new graphic novel from Dark Horse books reprints the PELLUCIDAR stories that appeared in the DC's KORAK SON OF TARZAN and WEIRD WORLDS from the 70's.
David Innes and older scientist Abner Perry board their Iron Mole and burrow through the Earth's crust until they find themselves in another world, one that exists at the center of the Earth. It's always daylight from the center "sun" (The Earth's molten center) and there's actually far more land space since there are fewer bodies of water. It's here they encounter beasts long extinct on the surface world, from cave bears to dinosaurs, as well as different types of ape-men. There's also the gorilla-like Sagoths who serve the intelligent flying reptiles, the Mahars. David is taken prisoner and meets Dian the Beautiful . At first he insults her by not knowing her people's customs but later makes his feelings known to her. He escapes his captivity and must rescue her from "Jubal the Ugly One", who wants her for his mate. Along the way he makes allies and learns more about this wild world he finds himself in. This book is a faithful adaptation of the Edgar Rice Burrough's novel. Highly recommended.
