This is one of the weirder POTA's comic book cross-overs. In the DC Universe the Green Lanterns are fighting members of another Spectrum (the Red's) and learn that a Universal Lantern is sent to an alternate reality in the future. Cornelius finds this ring in the Forbidden Zone and encounters the mutants that worship the Alpha/Omega Bomb. The villain SInestro flees to the world and is seeking the ring that Cornelius has. He holds Zaius hostage and Zaius tells the red-skinned alien that he'll find him in the Forbidden Zone. Hal Jordan and a few of the other Green Lanterns from Earth, including Guy Gardner, know they'll be dealing with talking apes so they bring Grodd with them. However, the ring begins infecting Cornelius' behavior and he begins creating other rings and giving them to Zira, her nephew Lucius and also Nova. And they get out of control. Zaius sides with the good Green Lanterns because he wants to rid his world of humans-and tries to convince Cornelius to give him the ring, saying he's not strong enough to handle it. There's an unexpected death of a major character and the ending fits in line with several of the POTA's films.
Overall, this is an interesting read, but not nearly as fun as the TARZAN and STAR TREK cross-overs. Also, the artwork makes all the Simians look too cartoony, not at all as depicted in the original films.
