This newest Star Trek: The Next Generation novel resurrects the Borg, those zombie-like aliens, and succeeds in making them scary again. Reeling after their defeat at the end of STAR TREK: VOYAGER. Picard, returning as Captain of the Enterprise with a new crew, is having nightmares that the Borg are going to create a new Borg Queen and attempt to crush humanity. They don't simply want to assimilate mankind - they want to destroy it.
Admiral Janeway believes the Borg are no longer a threat and tells Picard to wait while she sends Seven of Nine to rendezvous with is ship. But he can't wait - he knows this threat is happening soon and it's up to him and his crew to stop the threat.
This is a good Trek book, with some interesting characters such as the ship's new Vulcan Counselor (replacing Deanna Troi, who is now with her husband, Will Riker, on the TITAN), and I'm glad they are continuing the adventures beyond STAR TREK: NEMESIS, at least in print.
