Author: Egon Friedell
There's not a lot going on in this 'unofficial' sequel to H.G. Well's classic time-travel novel. It starts with the author corresponding with Wells then with him finding out who the time traveler is and then meeting with him. The time traveler wants to go back in time but has a problem. In order to do so he must go forward, to jump start the machine, and then go back. But this leads him to get stuck in time and he communicates for help with the author, Friedell.
The style of this book is a bit irritating and the characters all come off as somewhat pompous and unlikable. A much better sequel to THE TIME MACHINE is the book based on the proposed George Pal movie sequel, which is about the Time Traveler and Weena's son, who returns to the present time.
