A space probe sent to Venus hits a strange radiation cloud comes back to earth, landing in the ocean off of the coast of Florida. At the OSI robotics division, which is headed by Spencer, the agent from the OSI Steve first met in the very first SIX-MILLION DOLLAR MAN movie (portrayed by Darren McGavin), they are working on an android that can impersonate a person. The scientist calls it a M.A.S.K.A.T.R.O.N, which Spencer hates.
Soon after, at the OSI Departmental Technology Debriefing, it's announced that the bionics program is no longer being funded. Oscar disagrees and that's when Spencer comes in, with Steve. He explains that unlike Steve--or any other agent, that an android is not a security risk. And this isn't Steve at all--it's the Maskatron robot.
Meanwhile, the real Colonel Austin is at the Venus recovery site. One of the divers accidently shoots himself with a harpoon and the blood draws sharks. Steve fights one hand to hand--but it pierces a power casing on his arm, which is potentially dangerous because of the radiation. However, it's contained. However, something alive has come back on the probe...
Rudy Wells is upset that the bionics division has been shut down but there's nothing they can do for now. Meanwhile, the Maskatron is taking his orders too seriously--and removes the bionic limbs from another man who has them, a friend of Steve's named Barney. More problems are brewing when he accesses files about Bigfoot, the alien bionic technology that was transforming into an organic life form.
The alien spore has contaminated scientists and transformed them into alien creatures The Russians make an appearance, with a big robot that looks like something out of the Robocop movies. And Jamie Sommers makes an appearance When Maskatron threatens her life Steve goes ballistic. Of course, the alien infection is stopped just in time by Steve and Jaimie and the scientists revert back to human.
In the Epilogue the Maskatron is on the loose, in search of Bigfoot. Dr. Dolenz returns, with a new creation and the Russian venus probe is on a mission to kill Steve Austin!
This graphic novel is far far better than Dynamite's BIONIC MAN series, which is an update of The Six Million Dollar Man. Highly recommended. This is the best season that was never made.
