These two paperbacks take place three months after the season finale of DSN, where crew is adjusting to life after the DOMINION war. Kira is now in command of the station, Ro Laren joins the crew as the new security officer, and Jake Sisko is still trying to cope with the absence of his father. The Jem Hadar, those reptilian warriors bred by the shapechanging rulers of the DOMINION, make a devastating attack on the station, killing more people than were killed in the war. Next appears a lone warrior caught on the station, who claims that it was the act of a rogue spaceship--but no one believes him. Is he telling the truth or is the war going to continue? This is a good continuation of the series, introducing some new, interesting crew members. It satisfies that Star Trek fix. Recommended.
