This hardcover collection reprints the DC comic's Joe Kubert Tarzan issues 215-224. In THE MINE, he helps some Natives that are being forced to work in a mine. In THE RENEGADES, it's a search for hidden treasures by some bad white guys. In THE BLACK QUEEN, a native Queen pits Tarzan against a black lion but instead of killing him they become companions, which goes on to the next story, THE TROPHY, in which another white hunter gets him comeuppance for wantonly slaughtering animals for sport, like a baby albino elephant. However, the lion bites the dust. Then, there's a five issue adaptation of Burrough's second Tarzan novel, THE RETURN OF TARZAN. This is when Tarzan returns to Africa and encounters La and the Ancient City of Opar, perhaps one of my favorite Tarzan stories. I love Kubert's art on Tarzan as much as I dig his work on TOR.
