This 5 issue series from Dynamite Entertainment, based on the TERMINATOR movies, is disappointing when compared to the various series that have come before it. The events take place five years after TERMINATOR 3: RISE OF THE MACHINES, and John Connor is still hiding out in that bunker, distraught and alone, deciding if he should venture outside into the nuclear devastation. Kate Brewster had died a few years before (which contradicts the paperback novels by Aaron Allston). He does leave and immediately encounters the mechanical looking cyborgs, but before they can kill him he's saved by a new 'Uncle Bob', who doesn't resemble the Arnold version whatsoever.
John hooks up with a group of survivors, keeping the fact that Uncle Bob is a cyborg, and he encounters a teenaged Kyle Reese. Of course, the humans have to try to stop Skynet's plans for their extinction.
I think I was disappointed by this new series because the paperback book sequels, particularly the ones by S.M. Stirling, are so much better. The artwork didn't grab me and the story offered nothing new and was predictable.
