Whereas the new S.M. Stirling adventures of John and Sarah Connor are well-written and true to the characters from the movies, this book truly sucks. In this version, John Connor is 16 years old and living in Mexico with his mother. A group of modified humans come back in time from an alternate future to help him--and hot on their tracks are some silver morphing terminators, one of them a giant eight foot tall monster that can turn in to three shapes if it wants to. The characterization is weak and many key events are simply glossed over. When Sarah is killed it's like, 'so?'. ??? Obviously this series of books has nothing whatsoever to do with the new Stirling tales. In fact, I'd just try to ignore this particular version completely.
