written & illlustrated by Joe Kubert
Joe Kubert's long-standing character returns to comics. Tor, kicked out of his tribe, travels past the mountains and encounters an apelike tribe that kills people who are different from them. This includes a young ape-like child he rescues. He encounters a huge four-armed giant who has a sort of tribe of his own, all consisting of "different" looking humans. At first Tor thinks the giant is out to kill him but realizes the behemoth is gentle, and befriends him. He also encounters a race of albino humanoids who live in a cave and worship a huge octopus-like creature, some dinosaurs that have managed to survive and a tribe of Yeti's, who eye his new woman friend. Yes, it looks like Tor has found a mate, a dark-skinned, white haired woman, as the last page of the series shows them walking off together.
Kubert's TOR has always been one of my favorite characters and this new series does not disappoint.
