In North America Turok rescues a boy from being sacrificed by Aztec-like warriors, though he's not able to save the youth's father, who is killed. This boy is Andar. They flee for cover into a cave but there's a weird electrical storm--which transports them and their pursuers to another land, a place filled with ancient creatures such as dinosaurs. Of course, one of the first dinosaurs they see is the obligatory T-Rex. And just when they manage to escape the Aztecs they are captured by another tribe, native to this strange place.
I'm liking this first issue. This new version of Turok is a bit more energetic than the original 60's comic and has more in common with the recent animated feature film from a few years ago. I also like that Turok has a steel knife and axe he had gotten from visiting Vikings. In the original comic their advantage over the cavemen were arrows and fire. If you're a Turok fan you'll love this.
