The black ops version of the Ultimates, which Nick Fury now heads, is given an order to assassinate a seven foot tall, motorcycle riding creature with a flaming skull head-- The Ghost Rider. This creature is killing high profile rich people who have ties to the white house and they want this threat eliminated. Fury "recruits" the Punisher by having an explosive device planted in his body. If he doesn't work with the team then he'll go "boom"! Also on the team are the Ultimate versions of Hawkeye, War Machine and Black Widow. The most interesting character is the original "Hulk". He was formerly a crippled teacher of Bruce Banner, who transformed 16 years before in search of reproducing Captain America's Super Soldier serum. Unlike the present Hulk he still retains his intelligence, though he's still a violent murderer.
As with all the other Ultimate graphic novels this takes familiar characters and makes them more unrestrained than their regular Marvel counterparts. Recommended.
