The new, thirteen-year-old African-American Spiderman, Miles Morales, must confront his evil, criminal uncle Aaron, which has a very decisive end. Aaron takes credit for giving his nephew super powers and feels that the kid owes him some favors. He wants to stay away from him but Aaron threatens to tell his parents about his special spider abilities. It ends in the worst way possible, in blows--and Aaron's costume, which gives him super abilities, explodes, landing him at death's door in the hospital. Of course, Miles feels guilty. But all is not bad. He manages to stop the Rhino, who is on a rampage, and is invited to join the Ultimates by Captain America.
Although this is a different person in the suit, this is Spiderman, as Miles is facing all the same problems the teenaged Peter Parker did-- keeping secrets, fitting in, and making friends (in this case, some who were also Peter's friends, including Spider Woman, who we know in the Ultimates Universe is a female clone of Peter Parker!). This series is highly recommended.
