This hard cover book collects the first four issues of Charlton Comic's JUNGLE TALES OF TARZAN. In the mid-1960's Charlton believed Tarzan was in the Public Domain and went ahead and published these issues-until the Edgar Rice Burrough's Estate sued them and all the issues were pulled off the stands. The forward and essays all talk about this. It's a faithful adaption of the book, which takes place during the time period of the first novel, before Tarzan met Jane, and it's cool to see the artist of KONA OF MONSTER ISLE do his interpretation of the Lord of the Jungle. The first story involves Tarzan saving his elephant friend from falling into a deadly pit. The other tales deal with his interaction with the Ape tribe, such as when he wants to pay attention to a newborn baby. If you're a fan of Tarzan this is a must.
