Returning from his trip to the Caribbean, David Valentine returns to his home of the Ozark Free Territory, only to find it taken over by Consul Solon, who works for the alien Kurians. Of course, this doesn't sit right with him and he puts together a rebellion to set things how they were. Whereas the third book took place on the high seas, this takes place in the war trenches - and is a much more brutal tale, which Valentine perhaps sacrificing more of his humanity in order to help save the human race.
VALENTINE'S RISING is one of the reasons why THE VAMPIRE EARTH chronicles is one of my favorite series to date.
