Just when you thought things would calm down after the war with the Saviors a new enemy has appeared-the Whisperers-and they've directed an "ocean of the undead" towards Rick's community. They separate into different groups to try to re-direct the giant herd towards the ocean. While this is going on there's a group of former Saviors who want to go off on their own-and Negan, long kept prisoner by Rick, actually becomes something completely unexpected-an ally, at least temporarily. So what happens when those Saviors ask for him to become their leader again? I think you'll be surprised. Also, Rick faces one of his biggest losses yet, something that will have repercussions on the series for a long time. This comic series is a different animal than the TV series so I wouldn't begin reading it starting with this collection. But if you've been following both you'll love this. It's painful but a great read. Highly recommended.
