This first trade-paperback collects the first dozen stories of a world five hundred years in the future, a world of ruined cities, dinosaurs, cars and monsters-- and the ambivalent relationship between Jack Tenrec and scientist Hannah Dundee. Tenrec has a thing for old, 20th Century vehicles and Hannah wants to reclaim mankind's lost technologies to help rebuild their world. In their explorations they not only the dangers of prehistoric creatures but other humans whose intentions aren't so altruistic. One of the more intriguing tales involve them encountering the Grith, who are the descendents of the dinosaurs, intelligent beings who are Earth's caretakers.
I've always thought this was a cool idea, combining all of these different elements, and I'm sure would make a decent movie (and make up for the horrible Saturday morning cartoon adaptation that was done in the 90's).
