In medieval Europe, crusading knights massacre a village full of suspected devil worshipers and build a large Gothic church above the cursed remains. It is now present day, and this elaborate cathedral still stands. But when its sealed crypt is accidentally reopened, a group of people trapped inside the church become possessed by the fury of the damned! Movie Trivia: The image of the biker's naked girl friend hugging a winged snake-man is taken directly from a famous Boris Vallejo painting. The design for the lizard-demon-gargoyle creature is taken from a infamous 1600s wood-carving depicting a man selling his soul to the devil. Originally, Soavi and Argento wanted to shoot the movie in the Lorenzkirche of Nuremberg (Germany), and even did some test shots there. However, it was abandoned because the town of Nuremberg didn't wanted a horror movie to be shot there. Although the film is also known by the title 'Demons 3', the script for 'The Church' has nothing to do with the rest of the Demons series. In total the film had eight writers, both credited and uncredited, who worked on the script.
