Movie Quote(s):
  • Mattie Webber: How long have you been watching this? Dexter McCarthy: No, I think the question is, is how long have they been watching me.
  • Dexter McCarthy: I can still shut the system down. Mattie Webber: Don't you get it? There's no system to shut down. They are the system.
  • [last lines] Mattie Webber: We can never go back. The cities are theirs. Our lives are different now. The things that were supposed to connect us to each other, instead connected us to forces we could never have imagined. The world we know is gone, but the will to live never dies. Not for us... and not for them.
  • Dexter McCarthy: It was your friend's computer. Did he get off on the stuff? Was he shooting those videos and selling them on-line? What was he doing? Mattie Webber: Josh tied a phone cord around his neck and hanged himself - that's what he was doing?
  • Isabell Fuentes: They want what they don't have anymore. They want life.
Movie Trivia:
  • The trailer features footage from the original Japanese film, called Kairo. One shot in particular features a plane crashing. The shot was re-done for the final film
  • Kirsten Dunst was set to star originally and was supposed to shoot before returning to the Spider-Man 2 (2004) set.
  • Wes Craven was once set to direct, but bailed out, which led the film to be officially canned at one point
  • Bob Weinstein canceled the film considering it to be too similar to The Ring.
  • In an interview with Fangoria magazine, the director assured readers that key scenes from the original movie, in particular the tower jump suicide, would be retained. This scene is absent from the theatrical version. However, the scene is present in the unrated version
