Solarbabies (1986) In the future, a nuclear war has left the Earth as a desert wasteland where the ocean has dried up leaving the Earth as a vast desert landscape. Most of the water supplies are controlled by the elite corporation E-Protecorate, where the E-Protectcorate takes children away from their families and are forced to live in a orphanage, where they are to be trained as E-Police, the E-Protectcorate's security army led by the cruel commanding officer Grock. After playing a game of Skateball (Hockey on Rollerskates) against their rival team 'The Scorpions'. Daniel, the youngest member of the Solarbabies discovers a glowing orb from another galaxy called Bodahi in a mineshaft and Bodahi heals Daniel's deafness. The Solarbabies learn Bodahi has amazing powers. And the discovery of Bodahi convinces the Solarbabies to escape from the Orphange and fight back against the E-Protectcorate. Pursued by Grock, who is after Bodahi, The Solarbabies travel across the desert wasteland, where Bodhai is the key in their quest to defeat the E-Protectcorate and liberate the world from it's control.

  • Spectacular science-fiction/adventure on blazing skates!
Movie Quote(s):
  • Gavial: [making improper advances] Terra? I like the sweat. Terra: Get out, you creature of filth! Gavial: Hey, I just wanna talk. Maybe a little HANDS-ON PARLEY? Terra: [hits him with her shovel] Now I'm listening. Gavial: [backs off] Next time.
  • The Warden: [words of wisdom to the Solarbabies] Remember, behavior determines existence... Stick with us, learn to serve the Order, and you'll achieve a decent life-grid.
  • Tutor Nover: [commenting on a propaganda-film in the Orphanage-classroom] They called themselves Eco-warriors, "Eco" being taken from... what? Rabbit? Rabbit: Hey, if they took it, they should give it back.
  • Grock: [after the skateball game/attempted Earth Police-bust] Scorpions. You've had special treatment, favors, and training by experts from my maiming squads. Do you deny that...? Gavial: No, Strictor Grock. Grock: Yet you just allowed yourselves to be TRASHED, by left-brain rollers using homemade gear. Gavial: Strictor, if we just had... Grock: *Cut your breath*, before you betray your putrid thinking!
  • Grock: It's an odd name for a skateball team, don't you think? "Solarbabies." Too soft, not menacing enough. Why do you suppose they chose it? The Warden: They don't seem to need anything more menacing, do they? They always seem to win.
