Damien, the anti-Christ, is a thirty-something CEO of a huge multinational corporation and the new ambassador for Great Britain (Scotland, England & Wales), but he lusts for control of the world. The Dark One's only enemies are seven monks sworn to Damien's destruction with sacred daggers forged for that one purpose. As the monks hunt Damien, he orders the systematic elimination of recently born boys, who he believes are the Second Coming of Christ. Will good or evil triumph?

Movie Quote(s):
- Damien Thorn: Nazarene, you have won... nothing...
-
Damien Thorn: Nazarene, charlatan, what can you offer humanity? Since the hour you vomited forth from the gaping wound of a woman, you have done nothing but drown man's soaring desires in a deluge of sanctimonious morality. You've inflamed the pubertal mind of youth with your repellent dogma of original sin. And now you absolve in denying them the ultimate joy beyond death by destroying me ? But you will fail, Nazarene, as you have always failed. We were both created in man's image, but while you were born of an impotent god, I was concieved of a jackal. Born of Satan, the desolate one. Your pain on the cross was but a splinter compared to the agony of my father. Cast out of heaven, the fallen angel, banished, reviled. I will drive deeper the thorns into your rancid carcass, you profaner of vices. Cursed Nazarene. Satan, I will avenge thy torment, by destroying the Christ forever.
-
Damien Thorn: Suffer the little children to come unto me. Your words, Nazarene. Not mine.
-
Damien Thorn: If Abraham was ready to slay his own son for the love of his God, why won't you do the same for the love of mine?
-
Damien Thorn: You, my disciples will truly inherit this Earth!
Movie Trivia:
- Richard Donner had once considered directing the film, but was involved with legal problems involving the Salkind brothers stemming from Superman II (1980).
-
Hazel Court's cameo was filmed as a favor to producer Harvey Bernhard, as she was holidaying in Cornwall when the hunting scene was filmed.
-
In the scene where Damien is "praying" to Satan in his own private sanctuary, parts of his speech are taken directly from the novel "Là-Bas" ("Down There") by J K Huysmans (1891). In the novel the central character hears the lines whilst attending a Black Mass.
-
Last movie for Hazel Court.
-
At the time of filming, Sam Neill and Lisa Harrow developed an off-camera relationship that produced son Tim Neill.
