The Invisible Man's Revenge (1944)
Horror Movies & Sci-Fi Movies Database
Robert Griffin is an escapee from the psychopathic ward and a fugitive from the law. He also has a score to settle with his old friends, Sir Jasper and Lady Irene. He wants their daughter, Julie, and he wants half their wealth. They owe him that much. Griffin's flight through the English countryside puts him in the path of a Cockney drunk of dubious ethics and, more fatefully, with an eccentric scientist, who has discovered a great secret: how to turn a living being invisible. The scientist is eager to test his invisibility serum on a man. And Griffin is eager to become invisible and thus elude the authorities and exact his revenge. The only one who can stop him is Julie's fiance, Mark Foster, a handsome young reporter who slowly begins to believe wild tales about a "headless corpse."

- [first lines] Malty Bill: Two pounds, seven for the Burberry and the hat.
Jim Feeney: I wash my hands of the whole affair. Herbert Higgins: You and Pontius Pilate.
Herbert Higgins: Oh, Rob! I stuck by you when you were poor. You don't think I'm gonna desert you, now you're rich.
[last lines] Julie Herrick: From what Father said, his mind was, well, warped. Sir Frederick Travers: It must have been. Warped by imaginary wrongs. A man fighting shadows. He's to be pitied, really. He probed too deeply in forbidden places. What a man earns, he gets. Nature has a strange way of paying him back in his own coin.
Dr. Peter Drury: In this house, you've got to believe what you can't see.
- Character actor Edgar Barrier, unhappy with the way his career was shaping up at Universal, dropped out four days before production began. He was quickly replaced by Lester Matthews.
Grey Shadow also appeared with Leon Errol in the 1945 RKO short It Shouldn't Happen to a Dog (1945).
This is generally considered to be Universal's last entry in the 'Invisible Man' series. Seven years later the studio spoofed the series with Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man (1951).
