Anticipating a weekend of R & R in the mountainous region of Northern Arizona, nine college buddies lodge at a remote cabin -- where local lore warns them of the horrifying evil that slinks in the dark forest. Movie Trivia: Each of the students has their first name taken from a video game character and their last name taken from a member of the Arizona Cardinals' team fielded in 2003. The story of the "Metalhead Maniac" that Jimmy tells to the students is a story that the writer heard while camping in northern Arizona as a youth. Jimmy holds up a t-shirt with the words "Schlocktoberfest 2003" on it and says "Scott Foy rules!" in the background while Cid and Vince are talking about their plans for the weekend. This is a reference to the website Schlocktoberfest, which features amusing reviews of bad movies written by Scott Foy. The man and woman walking the dog in front of Rinoa and Thessaly's house are director David Michael Quiroz, Jr. and assistant director Kristen Thomas. They are credited as "Leon Ortiz" and "Ana Ortiz", a reference to Quiroz's first movie Night of the Chihuahuas. The dog they are walking is the same dog featured in that film as well.
