1. Did you ever think Last House on the Left would be as successful and as enduring as it ended up being?
David: Absolutely not!: : laughs: : We didn't make it for that reason, we made it because everyone wanted to be a part of the film industry and wanted to be a part of a collaborative effort. Most of us were doing the jobs we did for the very first time. The energy that everyone put into it is what made it a success.
2. You've played some pretty tough characters over the years. Has that hurt or helped your career as an actor?
David: In the beginning it hurt. I lost both my record deal and my agent because everybody who took the New York subway (where all the "Last House" movies posters were), thought I was the real deal, a real monster. Afterwards, it led to me going to Europe where I really established a career as an actor so in the end it helped. And being a composer helped as well.
3. Your role in the film Hitchhike was, I feel ,one of your best for my money. Was that a good film role for you in your opinion?
David: The best! I felt that in respect to the 'trilogy', ("Last House", "Hitchhike", "House on the Edge of the Park") that "Hitchhike" was the most interesting role.
4. You've done a lot more besides just acting. Surprise the kiddies and tell them about your musical endeavors, and work in plays?
David: If the kiddies have a computer, have them go to my website and that'll give them a lot more info than I could ever list here. www.davidhess.com {Note from RCR: David recently released his first solo album in 25 years, "Caught Up in the Moment". He's a two-time Grammy winning songwriter who wrote 7 hits for Elvis Presley plus a bunch of hits for other music stars of the 50's & 60's.}
5. Any last info to yell at your fans, bitches for the film industry, or want let us know about any current or future projects you have coming out?
David: I'd like to thank my fans for being so loyal over the years, and for instigating the resurgence of genre films from the 70s & 80s that have essentially rekindled my career. I've got 3 new films I'll be appearing in... again, the best way to find out about all that stuff is to go to my website. See ya there!
