Tim Seeley
Comic Creator
Horror Interview by The Gravedigger

Q: What is your background as a writer? Why comic format ?

I've always been a comic reader, and ever since I was a little kid, I've been writing comic stories for myself to draw. In the past few years, I've found I like writing comics even better than I like drawing them. And, really I haven't had time to try any other formats!

Q: Before I started regularly reading HACK/SLASH, I saw quotes saying that it was like Buffy the Vampire Slayer if created by Rob Zombie and Wes Craven-- and that's right on the mark. What was the genesis of Cassie?

Cass was intended to be a reflection of what a girl whjo actually survived a slasher movie would be like. The Nancy Callahans, the Laurie Strodes...how would they DEAL with the aftermath? I combined that with some real life people, and BOOM! Cassie!

Q: Why do you have, as Cassie's sidekick, a huge, deformed guy named Vlad? He sort of reminds me of Lenny from OF MICE AND MEN. And Why does he wear the gas mask?

Vlad is intended to be a "good slasher:" basically what Jason Voorhees might have been if he wasn;t so pissed. Vlad wears the mask because he grew up in a dank, rotten old basement, and he's susceptible to lung infections and such. It's kind oh his security blanket.

Q: The book is under development by ROGUE PICTURES (BRIDE OF CHUCKY, SHAUN OF THE DEAD). IF it was up to you who would you cast as Hack. Or her sidekick?

At this point, I've been working on this thing so long, and seen so many names and faces for Cass and Vlad, that I'm good with anyone who looks the part and act their asses off.

Q: What tends to be your favorite type of horror movie?

I like FUN horror movies..the kind they did so well in the 80s. I like some laughs with my blood. I'll always love some serious flicks like HALLOWEEN and NIGHTMARE on ELM STREET, but I love movies like NIGHT OF THE CREEPS, TRICK or TREAT, EVIL DEAD 2...all the stuff with a sick, over the top sense of humor.

Q: Will there ever be any "spin-off" series from Hack/Slash?

We'll do annuals and such....but, Cass and Vlad are pretty at home in there monthly book.

Q: Where do you see the characters ten years from now, when Cassie is no longer a teenager?

Vlad will be fat and balding...err..wait..he's already bald. And Cass will be a MILF.

Q: In the current issue she's on the trail of her father, who may be responsible for creating a lot of the serial killers she's destroyed. Is he her "Darth Vader?". What's in store?

We'll see that her dad has a very IMPORTANT connection to "slashers", and it might just blow Cassie's mind. We've been setting up this little mystery since day one...so I hope the readers enjoy it.

Q: Where is the official Hack/Slash website?

Devil's Due hosts one at their site, www.devilsdue.net. Othersie, for updates be Cassie's friend on MYSPACE at myspace.com/hack_slash
