Anna Taylor (Christina Ricci) is an emotionally distant young woman who is uncomfortable with her relationship with boyfriend Paul Coleman (Justin Long of JEEPERS CREEPERS, GALAXY QUEST). They have an argument in a restaurant before he has a chance to propose, drives off and gets in a car accident that kills her. She then wakes up on the embalming table of a funeral home run by Eliot Deacon (Liam Neeson). He explains that it's his ability to be able to talk to the dead, though she doesn't believe him. She believes she's still alive and that he's a psycho, keeping her prisoner.
The viewer is kept guessing up until the very end as to whether or not Anna is really dead and he has this special ability or if he's totally insane and has been burying dead people alive. However, both the lead characters are so extremely annoying and unpleasant that you wish they'd all die, once and for all, sooner than the movie's 90 minute run time. Nevertheless, AFTER LIFE is a unique take on the zombie genre...
