How is this for an original idea--a group of unlikable college students get a flat tire near a hick town and have to escape for their lives from the clutches of the horribly deformed locals who don't like outsiders? If this sounds like it's making new headway in the horror genre for you, then you may enjoy it. However, if you're actually a horror fan this will be all too familiar. Just rent out the original HILLS HAVE EYES. Any movie like this pales in comparison.
However, I was impressed with the makeup effects of the mutants, especially the more subtle ones at the very end. This took some bucks. Also, I always find seeing a seventy year old woman breast feeding a deformed child a bit unnerving.
