The unlikely named Shadow Moon (Ricky Whittle of THE 100) is an ex-convict who has just been released from prison. That should be a good thing but he's just found out that his wife was killed in an auto accident while having oral sex with his best friend. Now, with them both dead he's out of a promised job and misses who he thought was the love of his life. On his trek back to her funeral he encounters the mysterious Mr Wednesday (Ian McShane of DEADWOOD), who offers him a job as an assistant. And he may also have some supernatural powers-and be Odin of Norse Mythology. There's also Mad Sweeney, a tall man who claims to be a real Leprechaun, who provides needed comic relief to the mostly grim adventures. And there are other mysterious people, who seem to be the gods of old, as well as the "new gods" of our modern age, like Mr World (Crispin Glover), Technical Boy and Media (Gillian Anderson), who want all the power and worship of the humans. Shadow also seems to have some abilities, such as affecting the weather. All the time, though, he feels like he shouldn't be involved with this battle. Yet he's sucked in, particularly when his wife returns from the dead as a zombie, wanting to be with him. This is an interesting and surreal STARZ series. I loved it because it's so weird and unpredictable. Recommended.
