No matter how many times I watch this movie it still provokes a feeling of dread. We know DeNiro is the devil-I mean, come on, Louis Cyphre?-but we still want to know how the main character, Harry Angel (Mickey Rourke), fits into the story line and what the devil has to do with him.Detective Angel is hired by Cyphre to find Johnny Favorite, a man who owes Cyphre a debt. This leads him from New York to New Orleans, where things get stranger and stranger. There's also a trail of dead bodies left wherever he investigates. As with JACOB'S LADDER, the story is simple and predictable. It's the actors' performances and the atmosphere created by the film that makes it so engaging.Directed by Alan Parker.
