Sometimes a made for TV movie can be down right scary. Sometimes, but not this time I'm afraid. Sometimes a made for TV movie can be funny to watch as it attempts to be scary. Ants hits that nail squarely on the head. The insect onslaught in Ants will have you rolling on the floor. It's a veritable who's who of 70's TV movie icons with Robert Foxworth, Lynda Day George, and Suzanne Somers all getting infested with poisonous black ants. Nature strikes back hard in this one as the toxic chemicals and pesticides of man turn normal ants into a killer army. The ant attack scenes are a riot. The blob of animated mess that's suppose to be the horde of killer ants is hokey as hell. There's plenty of deer-in-the-headlights acting to keep you on the edge of your seat with tension as the ants invade Lakewood Manor. Honestly, Them! is a much better killer ant film. This is for 70's movie fans only. It does have a few moments, but this one is a turkey for the most part. I remember seeing this thing when originally aired and it did give me an ant phobia for a few weeks after. Nice seeing ants crawling on the naked back of MS. Somers, if we could all be so lucky. The last 5 minutes are infamous for stupid ways to survive a killer insect film. Watch and learn.
