Any "extreme" film aficionado would trustfully consider the "August Underground" series THE closest resemblance to what we generally theorize as an authentic "snuff film". The simulated violence in these movies are typically "shocking" and curiously realistic, but this first movie in the trilogy is, by far, the LEAST graphic. I actually saw the sequel "Mordum" before this and, while it comes nowhere close to capturing the bizarre cruelty and brutal material of that film, this first installment isn't without it's "perks"... The whole thing consists primarily of two buddies running around, documenting their heinous murder spree on a cheap camcorder. There's dismemberment, a girl being fed her own feces and boyfriend's severed toe, castration, and tons of hooker killing! All of which is believable enough and fairly effective. Some complain of boring "filler" that arguably drags these films along in between all the "grit", but I never noticed this movie lagging. The slaughter-house tour was pointless but cool and the whole convenience store scene was morbidly hilarious. I'm not a major fan of the "August Underground" movies but they're worth a look for fans of indie- "shock films"...
