The planet Akir is going to be destroyed by a villainous John Saxon unless the inhabitants agree to submit to him. He has his mutant henchmen kill several people as an example and says he'll be back in one week for their answer. Richard Thomas, who knows how to fly the only spaceship the planet has, decides to go find mercenaries to help him save his planet. He comes across a cowboy (George Peppard), who coincidently has a ship full of weapons, a cold-blooded assassin (Robert Vaughn), a woman warrior (Sybil Danning), some clone-aliens, a lizard man and a few others. The movie definitely is inspired by STAR WARS, from the opening title sequence to the giant enemy ship and dry arid planet. The funniest thing is that Thomas' spaceship, Nell, is shaped like a woman, complete with breasts. Never saw that in a movie before.This is the movie that Roger Corman has used as stock footage for dozens of his more recently produced movies (such as STARQUEST).
