A young man inherits the house of his scientist uncle, who is killed at the beginning of the movie by a bunch of crazed birds. He takes along his two buddies who are complete opposites. One is a nerd, the other one thinks he's the coolest one around. On the way there they stop at a gas station and the guy is reunited with the woman he dumped seven years before. There's also another girl working the cash register. One of the friends invites them both over later for a party, which they of course go to. They also run into the town bully, who still has a beef with the guy and vows to get even. Later, when they order take-out food, it turns out that the only nearby place is run by the Bully, who puts a dead bird he finds in the food. The nerdy guy ingests some of this and then starts to become a zombie.
You see, something is wrong with the birds and it's transforming people into zombies.
I found this all rather non-involving because not only are the zombie effects mediocre, I've seen this same premise (inherited house, et cetera) a zillion times before in a horror movie. Couldn't they have come up with something different.
The DVD box makes sure to point out that this was shot in 35mm film, as if this is somehow going to make the movie better. Sorry, they should have shot in HD and spent the money on both a screenwriter and special effects guy.
