Yeah, it came almost immediately after "The Exorcist" and seems to be commonly chocked-up as just another entry in the "demon" craze of the time - along with "Rosemary's Baby", "Abby", and "The Omen" - but you cannot help but fall for "Beyond the Door"'s kick ass Italian charm. Rosemary was carrying Satan's offspring and birthed an evil child for a cult of old wackadoos. Damien WAS the son of Satan and had a few inventive methods of killing off folks. Regan was just a girl spouting non-lady-like expletives and pea soup spew. Jessica Barrett, however, is pregnant with a demonic child AND horribly possessed by a violent tempered entity AND is haunted by the trapped spirit of an ex-lover! Oh, and that's not all, boys and girls! She turns on her loving hubby and snot-nosed, brat kids, eats her own puke - dolls come to life, Juliet Mills flashes the ol cooch, locks lips with a toddler and hilarious street performers hastle a defenseless "square" simply walking down the sidewalk for an extended amount of time...
That pretty much sums it up. Actually, I liked this thing MORE than "The Exorcist". Fans of Italian horror and demonic possession should definitely grab ahold of "Beyond the Door"...
