This is one of the best H.P. Lovecraft inspired movies I've seen. The story takes place at a mental institution in the Catskill Mountains-and they've a new patient (William Sanderson of NEWHART), an inbred man who has this weird looking tumor growing on his back. One of the hospitals interns-who is conducting some nasty experiments of his own-takes an interest in him and comes to believe that the tumor harbors the brain of the man's twin. There is another mind there-but it comes from another dimension. There's plenty of blood, gore, nasty situations and characters-and a pervading sense of dread throughout. You know this movie is not going to have a happy ending.
