I think this show is far more influenced by ALIAS than it is the original BIONIC WOMAN series from the seventies.
Rather than her being a school teacher, this Jaime Sommers (Michelle Ryan) works is a college dropout who works as a bartender and takes care of her younger, teenaged sister. She also finds out that she's pregnant with the child of the brilliant scientist she is dating. Of course, his area of expertise is cybernetics and when they are in a terrible car crash he saves her life by replacing her damaged body parts with bionic appendages (two legs, one arm, one eye and ear). She's somewhat pissed by all this, more so when she finds out that she's now basically property of a secret government organization and has to do their bidding. She also finds out that she wasn't the first bionic woman. That's Sarah Corvis (Katee "Starbuck" Sackhoff), who, after several years, has gone insane from the implants. Is the same fate in store for her?
Miguel Ferrer portrays Jonas Bledsoe, who is basically the Oscar Goldman character.
I think one of the problems with this is that the first few episodes move too fast---in the first hour-long episode there's not enough time on establishing her character before she becomes bionic. And when Sarah Corvis is introduced, she quickly becomes the more interesting character.
