In this intense horrific thriller, which brings to mind DUEL and THE CAR, three guys (two are brothers, one is a friend), go to a sleazy Wisconsin roadhouse to party and end up getting in a fight with the locals. The oldest brother was in the midst of having sex with a woman he'd picked up before he was interrupted-and when he comes back outside, fleeing from the mob that's after them, she's gone.The guys take off in their Saab and soon come upon a police officer (Randy Quaid) whose patrol car has stalled from the cold. They are nervous at first, thinking the man will bust them for having empty beer cans in the car, but he assures them that he's off duty and won't do anything. Soon after, they are stalked by this big black 1957 Cadillac El Dorado. They assume it belongs to one of the locals at the roadhouse. Sometimes the car just follows them, sometimes it appears on the road ahead of them and they have to go around it. As the movie progresses this chase becomes more dangerous-and it's clear the people within the Caddy are out to get them. But why is it chasing them? We're also not sure if there's a supernatural element or not, as there seems to be no stopping this vehicle. The movie is also 'based on a true story'.BLACK CADILLAC has interesting characters, a breakneck pace and a suspenseful mystery which keeps you watching. Recommended.
