The infamous, unsolved 1947 murder of starlet Elizabeth Short is the backdrop on this story about the relationship of two policemen, both former boxers. One is corrupted (Aaron Eckhart), the other (Josh Hartnett) is not, and both are interested in the same girl (Scarlett Johansen). Mia Kirshner is well cast as the emotionally disturbed murder victim and the identity of the killer, while not a big surprise, works. Hilary Swank (SOMETIMES THEY COME BACK AGAIN) portrays a bisexual rich chick who is somehow involved with all of this.
