An estranged scientist couple have developed intelligent sharks that obey electronic commands. They were intended for defense but an army general (Jeff Fahey) has other ideas. Someone sabotages their work and the sharks escape and kill people. Some of the shark effects are okay but the scenes in which you see the fins above the water are lame-and look like the styrofoam fins they are. It's up to the scientists to get the creatures back or destroy them-and you know a mile ahead what's going to happen. The movie's writers can't decide if this is supposed to be scary, a comedy or a thriller and so it doesn't work on any of those levels. BLUE DEMON is one of the weakest killer shark movies ever made.
