This awesome Hong Kong flick combines romance, fantasy, horror, and kung fu into an amazing mix that will leave you lusting for part 2. Two rivals from different clans fall in love and their lives are never again peaceful. Bridgette Lin plays the bride, doing another great job as in any movie she's in. She can go from the sexy female to the evil bitch martial arts queen better than anyone including Michelle Yeoh. This chick has never gotten deserved credit if you ask me. She really shines here, turning into the evil bride with white hair after her lover's slight betrayal. This movie is filled with awesome visuals, fights, and some truly erotic love scenes. If Asian chicks do it for you, by all means watch this. The nasty looking Siamese twins gave me the willies, glad to see them get their asses kicked by films end. There's so much here to enjoy. Watching Lin transform from naïve girl to the frightening looking witch is the real story though. Bride sure beats the hell out of Crouching Tiger. You know, it's funny how much press and hype that film got a few years back just because some dickhead, high brow reviewer fell in love with it and people jumped on the band wagon who have never had a clue about Chinese cinema before or since. There have been better films, like Bride 1 and 2, before and since, but nobody gives a shit. Luckily, Tai Seng has brought most of the better modern HK films forward dubbed and subtitled for us to copy... I mean enjoy. This most certainly is one. If you wanna see something a little different than the crap coming out every Tuesday on video, check this out.
