I had read mixed reviews on this film, even from our own staff members, so I approached it with few expectations really. Well, I was pleasantly suprised. While it was not the most original film ever made from a story standpoint or many other things for that matter, it was a well done flick. A flesh-eating virus is spreading throughout a wooded area just outside of some small town, and it makes its way to a cabin where some college kids are having a little getaway. The virus causes their skin to start falling off and makes them sick in some nasty ways. The bloody wounds and puking were well done and nasty as hell. The one guy fingering an open wound on some girls inner thigh and thinking he was getting lucky was priceless. While there are lots of elements that were ripped straight from some of the classics, this one had a good deal of original ideas it presented, such as the one I just mentioned. A good amount of nudity, blood and sick humor were thrown in to give the film lots of appeal. The DVD features on the home video release are pretty funny as well, especially the white-trash karate kid showing off his skills while some song about a gay bar plays over the moves. Grab this one and give it a try, you will be glad you did.
