In Vietnam, John Saxon saves his prisoner of war buddies, who he discovers were eating human flesh to stay alive. Years later, Saxon is trying to readjust to living as a civilian, and gets a call from one of those guys, who is recently released from the mental institution. He blows him off and the guy then goes crazy at a grocery store. He sees this on the news and goes there, hoping to talk his friend into giving himself up.
However, it turns out that Saxon's Vietnam buddies are spreading some kind of rapid acting rabies disease that makes them want to consume human flesh. It's a bit like Cronenberg's RABID, only goofier.
This has everything you want in an Italian horror movie starring an American actor.
