CARRIERS is a realistic and effective end-of-the-world movie. A group of four twenty-somethings are driving along the back roads in order to get to a secluded beach and a deserted hotel where they plan on waiting out the deadly pandemic that his killed nearly everyone off. They are Brian (Chris Pine) and his brother Danny, Brian's girlfriend Bobby (Piper Perabo of THE CAVE) and Kate. In the beginning their car breaks down and so they take over the SUV that belongs to a man (Chris Meloni) and his sick daughter. They seal them in the backseat with plastic and duct tape and agree to take them to a town where it was said a cure for the virus was found. But when they get to that town it's deserted, except for one surviving scientist and some young children. They all have the disease. The group leaves the father and daughter behind and proceed onwards, where they encounter other survivors at a hotel. Things get complicated when Bobby contracts the disease and they must make the choice to leave her behind or not.
This is a good movie, though be warned that it's no sun-shiny life-affirming story you'll be watching.
