This is a very well written indy film (script by Dennis Devine), about a cult of people who kill others in order to gain self-empowerment. Sort of a spoof of those crazy California self-help groups. Anyway, this cult is able to do this under the guise of auditioning actresses for a movie. The actress shows up in the barren theater, says her lines, then is captured and tied up by a big muscled goon to be later sacrificed. The story follows a hick chick who moves to Hollywood in hopes of becoming an actress. She's extremely naïve-but is befriended by two actresses who clue her in on how to audition and be an actress. When one of these friends goes to the one-way audition she's captured and eventually killed. So is the country girl, who was the main character! This really surprised me. When her sister back in Texas doesn't hear from her, she travels to Hollywood and tries to find out where she disappeared to. She's befriended by a photographer, who took her sister's headshots, and together they uncover the cult and eventually stop it. Or do they? The twist ending was extremely well pulled off and this was a very unpredictable movie. Directed by Steve Jarvis.
